Ecological Cultural Front Paradise Mayor asked for an explanation of why Marvin Solano has not been placed yet accreditation plaque to the district as a territory free of transgenic crops, which was given since 2005 by the Biodiversity Coordination Network for Latin America.
Iván Mora and David Molina, the Front, said Solano publicly pledged that twice to place the plaque at the entrance of the City, just below the crest, and to date has not kept his word.
"We want this plaque to be placed before the next festival celebrating the county free of GMOs, which will celebrate during the week of March 21," he said.
Mora recalled that former Councilman David Valverde managed the Paradise declaration of GMO-free zone and then, the Front has been in charge of following up the issue with the organization of festivals to remind people that food produced in these lands show any alteration prejudicial to health.
Paradise was the first canton in Costa Rica and Central America have this declaration, so that the Front is supporting this effort required by the authorities.
